Usnea (Old Man’s Beard) is a lichen traditionally used as a powerful antimicrobial and immune-supportive herb. It has a long history of use for supporting the body during bacterial and respiratory infections, particularly where there is congestion, sore throat, or damp, stagnant conditions in the lungs. Usnea is considered both cooling and drying, helping to clear heat and support the body’s natural defences without overstimulating the system.
